The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. robot vacuum cleaner cheap is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
